Discrimination
- Curriculum (English/History) - ie who are the authors we read, are we getting exposed to different perspectives in literature
- How are we being taught about discrimination in history classes
- What do parents want for their kids regarding discrimination
- How discrimination has changed since the parents were our age
- How we can play a role in educating our parents about current issues they might not be aware of
- Affinity groups, identity clubs, other measures FCS has to discuss these issues and make students feel that they can point out discrimination they see at school
- How FCS handles discrimination within administration
- How it could be better, how it has changed, etc. at FCS
- New community handbook policies regarding hate speech, slurs, etc
- Student reactions and what students want to see happening going forward
- Microaggressions
- Anything else that people might say or do that they think is harmless but has a larger effect on the community
- Insensitive jokes
- Education of student body through assemblies or special blocks or speakers
- Establishing norms before any incidents arise instead of waiting until afterwards

Effects of the Pandemic
- Exposed aspects of ableism, racism, socioeconomic status etc.

- Easy to lapse into laziness in terms of school
- High school is a time when we are supposed to be preparing for college and then life

- Parents: might not know how to support their kids in online school
- Relationships with family members in house
- Lack of personal space and time because of amount of time and proximity to people you live with
- Helping parents understand youth need own space & time, and that doesn’t mean they don’t want to spend time with you
- Parents checking in on students about emotional well being vs. about school all the time
- Disconnect between student wanting to learn at school, but parents reluctant because of safety concerns or vice versa
- Staying safe vs. seeing friends conversation
- Seeing others post with friends on social media makes others feel like they should/can be doing that too
- Each family has different levels of safety/adhering to guidelines → social dynamic between kids
